Are you trying to tell us that you promote ripping off icons from other people? Is it only ok if they are stealing from other companies? What if someone has a custom icon set installed? Did they creator of that icon set consent to this iPhone/iPod Touch app having access to those icons?
Have you even read a single thing I've said? You are defaming me - I'm an intellectual property attorney and don't advocate stealing anyone's intellectual property. So let me repeat what I've said multiple times, this time using small words:
1) Apple has every RIGHT (taking into account waiver, exhaustion/first sale doctrine, and fair use) to use its copyright to limit the license to the icons
2) Apple has every RIGHT to decide what goes into the app store
3) Apple is being stupid in exercising these rights in this case.

i thought this from my first post, but his join date is 08, and he's a regular. that is what has me thinking that what he is saying is really how he thinks/acts.
I don't doubt that he goes around cutting people off at dangerous speeds. That screams of trying to make himself feel like less of a loser.
It's all the other crap that I think is BS...the money, connected family members, SAT score, all of the volunteering, Harvard. Complete lies. The kid is sitting in his basement listening to death metal (no offense to those who like that kind of music) as we speak and cursing all of the girls in his class because nobody would be caught dead at Prom with him.

Hmm... Does this really count as front page news?
Not to say it isn't cool, but we're still talking about an artist rendition based on a reliable source... Not the iPhone "revealed".
Just my 2 pennies. ;)
When i just went to MR, and this popped up, I almost had a heart attack. wallet ready before the story eved loaded. I was quite dissapointed. i am waiting for this SO much. this is the one device i would bu at the drop of a hat

Do no buckle to these power hungry tyrants Samsung. The stinger you fight, the more I will buy your products in the future.
You'd buy their products just because they opposed Apple? I buy products because I like them, hence a Samsung HDTV, Xbox 360, Sony Vaio Laptop, iPhone 4 and iPad.
One of my friends will not buy a piece of clothing if its cheaper than $50. (except underwear obviously) He could spot a shirt he liked, run over, and see it was $40, and he'd say "It's too cheap"
Where I would go, "Hey that shirt looks good"
4% doesn't sound like financial suicide to me. Though I do believe that Samsung would probably try to avoid losing that 4%.
Apple would probably find someone else for parts, but the question is if the quality/price would be the same. If I was a parts manufacturer, I would take advantage of this, knowing Apple is in desperate need of new parts. Cha-ching!!!!
Losing out on $142 billion in 1 deal, just to spite someone makes sense, if the CEO is 12.

Compare Core Duo vs. AMD. At least until someone does a Core Duo vs. Core 2 Duo benchmark.
hmm, so it looks like the core duo is roughly similar to the athlon 64 x2 2.0Ghz.
Soo... the 2.16 Yonah is around 1.86Ghz Core 2 Duo speed. Kind of figures, considering Merom is supposed to come in ~30% faster.
Not that great, but not that bad either.

New hardware will be good.
Can't say I'm too excited about a Movie store - it'll be u.s only and thus only available to a small percentage of the world.

Ok but didn't someone say that CMD + Drag does the same for files?
Yes. Which was also mentioned that cmd+drag is very inconvenient and a hassle to deal with the majority of the time (or at least in my opinion.)
Why Apple just doesn't just enable cmd-x in Finder is beyond me. It would make my life just a little easier at times.

So if Apple losses can they just go and make a really, really crummy, crash prone application that sells MP3, that are encoded really poorly, and is just the most absolutely worst garbage ever and call it, "Da Amazon MP3 and AppStore for Windows and Office" ?
While I do think Apple's TM should be upheld, I do wish they would change the name themselves.

What's hard in the U.S. is that most people make a modest or poor salary--yet the culture is very materialistic and there is a lot of pressure to buy so many luxury goods and services. At least in third world countries, your friends aren't pressuring you to take extravagant vacations you can't afford or go out to expensive restaurants.

I'm wondering how the yonah stacks up against this chip...
As Eidorian's link points out, Core Duo (Yonah) performance falls somewhere between the Athlon X2 3800 and the Athlon X2 4200. The 2.40GHz E6600, 2.66GHz E6700, and 2.93GHz X6800 Core 2 Duos in particular are at least 40% faster, which is exactly what Intel promised at the IDF (although they were comparing it against the Pentium D).

You can return or exchange it but you'll have to pay a 10% restock fee ($25 or $29 depending on which one you bought). If you bought the 30GB just stick with the "old" 5G. If you bought the 60GB version then $30 is worth the price for another 20GB of storage. But my question to you is, what were you thinking buying an iPod the night before an Apple Special Event focusing on "it's showtime?"
You can return ANY apple product for a FULL refund if the product was updated within 10 days of the original purchase date!! Or you can get money back if the price was lowered!

Very sad. Someone lost their life over something so trivial. And sad that the guard has to live with knowing he took a life. :(
Coleman2010,
I would not say that committing armed burglary and shooting at an outnumbered security guard is "something so trivial".
The guard can live with the fact that someone tried to take HIS life, but fortunately he was trained well enough to defend himself successfully.
Quit feeling sorry for criminals who CHOOSE to be criminals, and try your best to figure out that the person perpetrating the crime is NOT THE VICTIM!

I don't think the Power Mac G5 is a good example either. Are we expecting a redesign for Conroe? Not that I don't WANT Conroe in the iMac. It just seems a bit much.
Why isn't the PM G5 a good example? True, most of those were duals, but even the single 1.6 and 1.8 G5s in the first generation drew more power than Conroe, and the G5 imacs got up to 2.1 Ghz! A resdesign would be fine by me too. :)
I'm definitely no expert on this issue, but the numbers I've seen on Conroe so far don't look all that bad. Yeah, it will be hot, but not substantially, or perhaps at all, more so than the G5.
It just seems to me that if apple wants to sell the imac as a mid-range desktop, it needs to have a competitive desktop processor. The mini can use laptop components, but the imac is both bigger and more expensive; it should compete with similarly priced PC desktops.

I am not quite following you. It is not as if your mac will slow down because the new one has more cores? Or, are you saying the requirements to run the software will increase at a faster rate because the hardware is improving so rapidly, thus dating your mac prematurely?
My computers will of course not be slower. But the apps, on the other hand, will become more and more demanding. For example, I cant run Aperture on my MDD (2*1.25/2GB RAM/128MB VRAM). Hell, I cant even run Civ IV on it...lol
I think this fact will be more and more emphasized as the "core-war" replaces the "GHz war".

NI am, however, starting to see why they allowed a sneak preview of iTV. Look how many of us are saying "I can't wait for iTV!" now that we've had some time to experiment with iTunes movie downloads!
Yes, we're all looking forward to a product to come out in 3 or 4 months that will actually make the product they released last week bearable!
Brilliant!!

Well, thank you, I've heard of Home Sharing. I use it myself on my desktop and laptop. I was referring to an one-click streaming solution like Airtunes. More like "click there to stream music to my mac which is connected to my sound system" than "go to preferences, enable sharing; now wait while I browse your shared library".
I just wish to stream to my mac which is connected to my sound system from other Airtunes capable devices. That involves a hack only on my part and nothing at all to be done on other computers or iOS devices. Call me cheap, but that would be convenient to me and my friends.
To sum up, all I want is a Banana-TV equivalent but just for audio. It looks like it's just a matter of time.
I second this. I already have an AppleTV hooked up to our main A/V center, plus several AEs connected to self-contained CD radios in our kitchen, bedroom, etc. What's missing is the client I can run on my Mac that advertises it as another AirPlay remote speaker so iTunes running on the server in the basement can stream to it. Would be great if it included the ability to control iTunes like the iOS Remote App does.
