Don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I didn't care about Apple's market share when it was slipping in the 90s and I don't care about it now that it's climbing. I didn't buy my Mac to be popular and I don't particularly care that lots of people are (or are not) using them. It's just an irrelevant metric to me.
Apple produces very high quality machines and that's always going to ding them (ironically) in terms of market share as people will buy new machines less often and because loads of people aren't picking up bargain Macs at Wal-Mart. I know lots of Windows users and they buy new PCs on average every two years. I buy a new Mac on average every 5 years and most Mac users I know do the same. Market share is just meaningless, even when it's positive news.
Besides, Apple deals in the kind of quality that will keep it around for many, many years, regardless of which way its market share is going and that's all that I care about.
I can say that I predicted Apple would release software to dual boot an Intel Mac but without proof who would believe me?
Only if you were John C. Dvorak. :D ;)

I don't know about setting thresholds like that, but I sure would like to be able to download (and re-download) free apps without being prompted every time.
Um, that's what he said. "Never prompt me for password with apps costing below $x" Obviously free falls under that category.

I reckon the zune will be in the same situation as the sony clie. Its gonna be an amazing product with a million more features than an ipod, but will millions of people buy. Just as sony couldnt compete with palm, microsoft cant compete with apple, but the xbox is very impressive for a software company so im not going to underestimate microsoft.
I am getting tired of feature after feature that no one needs. It makes the devices overcomplicated and moe expensive.
I don't need WiFi in an MP3 player. But since MS will have, Apple will have to add it in order to compete. Thank god they haven't added the FM tuner into the player. Which everyone seems to want...

I just found that the person that was beat up was transgender and this was a hate crime. How come this is not all over the news? I guess hate crimes are okay now by black people but if a white person did this it would be the end of the world.
Black-on-white crime, much more prevalent than the reverse, is one of those open secrets the media doesn't like to report on, usually since they're too busy accusing whites of racism.

But you're dealing with Apple customers, they sacrifice themselves for the good of the company.
Yes, Apple tricks everyone into loving them. That's what is happening; it couldn't be their focus on creating products that people love. Nope.

What's the main wallpaper look like? Is this going to change before the final release, or is it going to be the same like Vista's Beta?

Wouldn't it be "non-touch?"
None-touch doesn't sound right.. That's the Japanese/Chinese for you. Lost in translation.. how about just plain 'ol touchless :)

Wow, we're all over the place aren't we. If we cover our bases we'll have to be right! :D
hahaha, yes, indeed.
Just put up the whole calendar and say, "one of these days, we'll get an iPad 3, and an iPhone 5."

Apple plays by the rules and gets screwed on their music contracts.
Amazon says screw the music labels and gets a better price.
I love how people make the argument that the labels hate Apple because of its "control". I hate to break it to ya but Amazon gives them the middle finger time and time again.

Played the back 9 at http://www.pittsburghgolf.com/
http://img409.imageshack.us/img409/1205/golffox.jpg
Played terrible but did see a red fox out on the course. :D
Took the photo with my iPhone 4 for a ways away (Probably 50 yards) used the HDR setting, came out a lot better than the non HDR photo.
That is pretty close to me. I've played there a few times.
It was always strange to me that a golf course is in Braddock.
Ooh and bought these yesterday:

Not the polished app for final release I assume??
Are there any pictures of the week view? I think if its another full-screen app, it would look really cool blown up. Makes me want to get an iPad even more now...

I highly doubt anyone at Fox News is crying. Some of the message boards I browse that are predominantly Republican are even tipping their hat to Obama for accomplishing it.
For this rare and special day everyone can set aside their politician differences and just celebrate as Americans, not political parties. For one day we are all one.

How would an operating system KNOW it is being run in virtualization? It cannot determine the difference from a real computer. We are talking about Vista like it is an artificial intelligence of some kind.
Same way iTunes can detect that you're trying to rip a CD from a virtual CD drive. (Even though this one is easily bypassed). There aren't that many VM packages and they all have a unique signature that can be detected which does not involve AI or even rocket science.
In the end though there is no point in discussing how they detect it, since it would appear that they don't plan use any technological means to stop you from doing what their EULA appears to say you can't do.

I held one earlier today and it felt .0001 oz. heavier. Perhaps it is just my super human ability to weigh things instantly that told me this....but still....

My girlfriend and I have tried to stop by on a few occasions but it's always enormously packed when we go (our own fault for only being in the area on Friday & Saturday nights) and we end up going to Corner Bar up the street instead. But it's definitely at the top of my to-do-soon list. :)
The trick is to go early for dinner.
If it's too lined up, Fionn McCool's next door is fun.

But my point is that even if we get a 40% boost in our CPU, it is near useless.Well, let's stay with 80286 because every new generation since then has provided no more than 40% boost in CPU.
On the other hand, on the GPU side, you have a 80/100 (which is what the NVIDIA 320m is) and we see a 30% performance drop, that will result to a 42.5/100.Wrong math. 30% of 80/100 is 24/100 so you end up with 56/100, not 42.5/100.
I see the current MBA owners make every effort to praise their machine and brand the next one useless. For the casual user the c2d MBA and SB MBA will be absolutely identical. Neither the faster CPU нор the slower GPU will make your web browsing any faster/slower, document editing will be the same. Still the MBA will be your travel companion. Picking a MBA to be the one and only computer in a home environment is kinda ridiculous - for less amount of money one can get an iMac which is far more convenient with its larger screen - for gaming, videos or whatever. Besides, it is very portable, too, i move mine in my home all the time.

I think AT&T is getting tired of dropped calls on it's frequency band...it wants to start dropping them on T-Mobile's as well.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL....
Does this also mean that T-Mobile users are stuck with only the white one?
I say get one with the lower pricing before the AT&T deal goes through - so AT&T has to honor your 2 year T-Mobile contract.
I have a nicely priced old voice plan and would like to add the $10/month 250MB data plan... ;)
BTW - is this just an unlocked iPhone 4 that someone put on T-Mobile and is passing around this rumor? :D

"iX" = "Ix", which is the nickname for the character Ford Prefect in the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Obviously, the new Apple device is either a digital watch or a towel.
I would think an iWatch would be a great seller for Apple.
