At home I have a wireless network and everything is great. I visit a few different wireless hotspots and everything is also great. At work if I need internet access I have to plug my iBook (700mhz, 256MB, 10.2.6) into ethernet. I did that today and got nothing. Restarted, still nothing. Created a new location and changed network preferences to try ethernet first, turned off AirPort--nothing. Any ideas here? I'm not ruling out a network problem at work, but a problem on my end seems more likely.

Well since our previously hacked Sony DVD player broke a few months ago a nice region free DVD player would be great. The DVD recorder plays our Region 2 DVDs perfectly, but our Region 1 imports are just left collecting dust.
If it's not region free, ah well. It's a shame DVD players are just too pricey :( ;)

all good advice depending on how you learn best. I learn best by doing so I just play around with it, change settings to see what they do, etc. There is little that you could actually mess up and I don't know of anything you could mess up beyond repair. Just don't mess around with some of the utilities like Terminal, etc unless you know what you are doing.
The Mac Help in the menu is a great place to get some basics on switching from windows. It has a special section just for this.
I would also go to http://www.apple.com/macosx/
Here is a frequently asked questions page for switchers:

So I bought windows 7 and downloaded the iso. I used windows 7 usb/dvd download tool to make my usb bootable with the windows 7 iso. I installed rEFIt. When I restart and select the windows usb icon it loads and I get the error "no bootable device - insert disk..... "
I have no idea what is wrong ugh! I looked through a lot of threads and nothing is helping.

Hi, recently I was trying to take a photo of myself from facebook onto my desktop however with the new system I've just managed to save a link to the photo. It's called photo.php.html.download, it serves no purpose on my mac, it claims that it can't be deleted. With your help I hope to prove otherwise. I've tried getting into it's info to see if it's locked but it nothing happens when I click 'Get info'. Also if I try and move it, even just to somewhere else on the desktop it just goes back to it's original position.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot!

I think now is as good a time as any to switch. PowerPC Macs will continue to be well support for a long time. There are millions and millions of them in use right now, and that's not going to change until several years after the Intel switch is complete.
Just wait a bit.. at least for PCI express to make it into those PMs!

I think I just decided not to go the the ATT store at 5:00am and just go to work like I always do and get my wife to head down there at around 11:00am or later. Not really worried about getting the darn thing anymore. Too much hype now im burnt out.

My girl used to use a Candyshell (the light blue and pink one). Now she has a pink and white Otterbox Defender and she couldn't be happier which actually shocked me.
Generally, the ladies don't seem care about the actual style of the case or even it's functionality. The seem to only care about the color. Granted that is a blanket statement and doesn't apply to the entire gender but the past couple of girlfriends I've had have had this same attitude towards their phones.
That does not apply to geek girls :D.
For me function first and then style.
My current favorites and why:
1) SWitcheasy Vulcan Smoke. The slimmest full port covering case.
2) Casemate Hula black. Shows off my Luckylabs stickers and the phone looks almost naked while still having some lay on table.
3) Otterbox Commuter. One of the thinnest fully protective cases, plus pink and white is sexy!
4) Waterfileds pouch (sfbags): To keep the cased phone from getting scratched with all the crap in the pocket/purse.

From a firmware perspective, try resetting the PRAM (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238) and if that doesn't work, reset the PMU (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449). :)

I went to the Apple Store today and asked about the minis a bit ... they didn't have the new ones out on display, but they had one guy walking around wearing the blue, pink and green. The colors are dramatically different -- much more bold.
Both the new 4gig and the new 6gig look identical, same size, same everything. Both lines feature the bold colors and the improved battery life.
I have to say I was really shocked at the colors -- they were practically glowing neon. Really, phenomenally bright. This picture from iPodLounge illustrates the difference very well ... it is truly THIS bold.
sweet thats exactly what i was looking for. I did buy a blue one, but i don't want to open it incase i don't like the color, i wish the store next to me would put them on display. If anyone has green or pink, could they post photos?? I kinda like the neon colors.

If possible SSH into the device, remove any traces of your dev, then try adding sources manually via SSH and then restarting cydia. if the problem persists, back up the device and re jailbreak it (if possible)
Cydia may have become corrupted whilst you have been trying to build this dev.
Mobile terminal may offer some help, try deleting all packages and sources currently installed (if any) and re loading cydia again

Depending one what you're trying to grab off the P2P network, Limewire has been good to me. All the ads you have to deal with is the "Buy Pro?" at start up, as long as you disable it's autostart it doesn't bother the rest of your system.
I've used a couple of them BearShare connects to the same network as Limewire and is decent too.
When installing these type of programs it's best to be careful and google the name looking for user reviews.
