To all the people saying this is a waste of resources, an example of American wastefulness, disgusting, disrespectful to the poor around the world and other such utter crap:
I find it beyond hilarious that you would waste your time and energy complaining about someone blending a frickin' iPad when there are soooo many other things you could be doing if you are truly that upset. Why don't you start working on solving real world problems like war, terrorism, hunger, pollution, child pornography, slavery, murder, racism . . . etc. etc. ad nauseum before you lecture us about the morality of blending an iPad? Until you've got those problems licked, I will continue to laugh at you and your grossly misplaced idealism.

i cant see any good reason why apple must launch iPad twice in a year. This just doesnt make any sense at all. :o

It appears many should unplug all their firewire devices before applying this update.
I believe my problem was caused by the Target Mode on my Macbook.
I had just put my Macbook Pro in Target mode, and dumped my MP3's to it from my Mac Pro.
When I plugged in my Macbook to the Mac Pro, the macbook wasn't detected... Then I tried it with the Macbook Pro...
Now, none of the 3 work.
I believe my problem was caused by the Target Mode on my Macbook.

Otherwise it's just a box, with high quality components just the same as any other high quality desktop box.
I own a new Mac Pro because I'm willing to pay those premiums.
Can it be justified as that much better than any other premium box? No.
If you're only looking at it from a hardware perspective, there's validity to this statement on the SP versions of the MP (i.e solely used to run Windows or Linux).
But once DP models or the necessity of OS X applications are added to the mix, this may not hold true (definitely doesn't with the necessity to run OS X based applications, as a Hackintosh isn't a good idea for a professional environment; home/enthusiast users are another story, as they presumably have the time to track down solutions and fix issues themselves).

Expect software announcements at an Apple special event on 30 January (the consumer release date for Vista, as if you didn't know already). There Steve will talk about Leopard's Top Secret features and the new iLife suite, just so that once MS have stopped kicking themselves after the release of the iPhone and the bruises are starting to heal, they can do it all over again. See Zunes and Vista in bargain bins all over the world (I know that Zunes are only on sale in the US at present, but in order to get rid of stock they will be put on sale everywhere without any software support whatsoever).

I love Office for Mac 2011.
The only issue I have is that my MobileMe calendar which syncs seamlessly on my iPhone, iPad, Outlook 2010 on PC, & iCal on Macs does not sync with Outlook 2011 on Mac. Outlook 2011 on Mac insists on having its own calendar. Quite why I don't know, as Outlook 2010 on PC is perfectly happy with the MobileMe calendar.
Tempted to run my own Exchange server though...

Biggest problem with Veloster: it needs a more powerful engine. Maybe Hyundai will see it fit to install the 173 bhp 2.4-liter I-4 found on the current Kia Forte, which would give the Veloster a needed performance boost. :)

Aluminum seems to hit the spot when it comes to exterior aesthetics, and that seems to be important to them. Can't see it happening unless they can make carbon fiber look just as good.

...What bugs me is that I am now at Oxford, which by the way is number two or three in the world, that Macs are under represented. In fact there is no store, virtual or otherwise in the whole of Oxford!!!!!...Unfortunately there is no Apple Store, though there are three Starbucks. But if you need help (or to know you are not the only macuser in Oxford) there is a pretty good, hole-in-the-wall Apple education dealer/reseller in Headington. Address: 19 Old High Street. Absolute Computers is just off the high street (London Road) towards old Headington: go back beside Summerfields supermarket and it is above the audio shop - staircase is in the rear by the dumpsters in the Summerfield car park. Proprietor's name is Mike. They set our charity up with our first video editing system in 1998. There is also an Oxford MacUser group that meets once in awhile. They have a Yahoo Group, oxmacug@yahoogroups.com.

I'll still use the mac pro so that would be 5 systems.
Heat is a problem for me too so the overclocking will have to wait a while and a new build will have to wait a couple of months.
oh ok. yeah 5 systems is quite a bit. i think for right now 4 is my limit. so for me to get anything else, i'd have to sell something. but we'll see. i'd love to build a 6 or 12 core system

Internet data usage is increasing and internet data caps are decreasing. This doesn't seem good...
I agree. I'm not interested in using what little bandwidth the phone company gives me to play music I could just transfer to my phone from my computer.

Nokia has been in the smart phone market for a very long time.
I think we can all agree that Nokia's meat and potatoes has been in dumb phones. They are present in the smart phone market, but this merger if you will with Windows is going to be their attempt to really recreate themselves in a market they were not very successful in.
