Removable GPU!? Pretty impressive!
Hmmm...Id love it if that also meant "upgradable" GPU. Not that theres any better mobile AMD offerings at the moment.

You can find or make "transparent carbon" already.
Yeah, it's called diamond. Talk about durable and scratch resistant.

They don't work for Apple they work for Foxconn. Please get your facts straight before you chastise someone. The article states Foxconn investigated and called the cops.
Wow, someone who can read.
Looking at this thread i was beginning to think it was impossible.
So are these guys getting a fair trial? Are they exempt from cruel and unusual punishment? Oh, that's right, that little lack of human rights thing...
I really think Apple should step up and make sure these guys aren't treated unfairly or overly harshly, even *if* they leaked the design. Frankly, that would be the *only* course of action for a civilized company like Apple to do.
Because normally a western company dictating a foreign countries legal system is the *only* course of action.

Your argument would be valid for the G4, but doesn't really hold much water considering that G5s were the PowerPC equivalent to a Pentium 4 - they have 16 stage integer pipelines and can go as many as 25 stages depending on the instruction.
OTOH, they could hold twice as many simultaneous instructions as a P4 could.
The G5 also had a 800MHz-1.1GHz bus.. the exact point I was trying to make. Many stages = the need for a fast bus. My Sawtooth with a 7448 1.8GHz G4 with 7 stages on the logic board gets by fine with the 100MHz bus.

We still have a 2004 20" Power G5 iMac that is my wife's primary home computer. It's been dead reliable for all the years we've owned it, and was my primary iTunes Library machine until just a few months ago. It's still used daily for light-duty stuff: web browsing, email, word-processing, and as a Citrix client so my wife can connect to her School's systems (she's an administrator at a High School). It works fine for all that sort of stuff.

I'm looking for a free update, I don't know if it'll cost money, but osx 10.6.4 or whatever I have sucks. I want them to fix this crappy desktop they got going. They should probably make it so you can view "folder branch's" too. Like you right click the folder and click view branches, and then all of the sub files/folders will pop below, and you can access quicker without having to go through like 30 different folders. Drives me a bit nuts. To make a branch you'd have to link it to a host folder. Just an idea. Also they should update the dock, it's a tad boring. You know, I recently watched avatar on my mac, and it sucked because my laptops resolution sucks I found out. They should quick tricking my eyes with whatever they're doing..
Also they should get rid of some of the apps that come pre installed on their macs. A good majority of them I don't use, and a lot of people I talk to don't use them. They should just make them downloadable on the site. Also they should make it so I can put folders on the far left of the screen, that drives me nuts. I got a lot more demands, just to lazy to continue.., they just need to do a hole makeover on the desktop...

Apple is greedy, what's new.
They rather make $0 than to make less, because you know why? The person who end up not getting still has that desire to satisfy, the person who bought cheap? There goes the near future sale.
What
Name 1 corporation that is not greedy...
And non-profits are not allowed...;)

yes, There are lots of reasons why people get bod mods.
I personally dont worry about society, wether I fit in or if I should try to stand apart.... etc There are people who do have that mentality though.
If it makes me happy thats the only reason I do something, Its my life so I dont care what society thinks, I dont worry about social norms, Designer clothes, fancy cars etc, If I like a meterial object I buy it (not caring if its from Goodwill or Nieman Marcus), if I want to pierce myself because I want to accentuate my eyes and brows and if it will make me happy I will.... I live my life by my rules, and dont care about trying to seperate myself from the heard.
I hope you understand what I am getting at.... Im not very wordly
i understand what you are saying, but thats because i live the same way, and if someone cant accept me for who i am, oh well their loss (just glad this new person in my life likes my additions). Piercings and tattoos are not a fad for me, nor are they just simply a form of expression. they are me and who i am. every piercing is different, as is every tattoo, similar maybe.... and i plan on more of both, and i will end up drawing the majority of my tattoos in the end, and they all have significance. the piercings will remain for years to come if i have my way.
i dont do this to fit into a particular crowd, i do it for my own pleasure, and to improve upon myself, to perfect myself, and i dont care what society or anyone else things. i dictate my life.

Full screen video ipods are nice, but give people the chance to use their ipod like they'd use a dvd player (but be able to bring it with them to anyone's tv) and that's where the $$$ is in an itunes movie store.
Yes! Exactly right, in my opinion. This would be one more way to market the iPod to the masses. Sure, Handbrake works like a dream, but an integrated, end-to-end experience of shopping for a film, downloading it to the iPod, then connecting it to a TV would create a solution similar to that of buying music in the current iTMS. Apple should upgrade the video out of the iPod though, I think.
Another thing to consider is that the Mac Mini has been seen as the "media center" where feature-length downloads may happily reside.

Agree! I love the New Yorker but the digital edition on the iPad should be free with my subscription.
For what it is worth, it's my understanding you can technically get a digital version of the New Yorker, it is just the extra features of the iPad app that cost extra. I just looked into this myself with the New Yorker. While I haven't started it yet, the digital version looks like a digital copy of the print version while the iPad app brings interactive videos, expansion on stories, etc.

I've believed it since the beginning of the rumors and it is getting more and more rock solid.... there will be NO iPhone.
I think it has gotten to the point that people think it will be out so bad that the rumor has been allowed to live on.
Why would Apple want to get into the cell phone business? I could think of only one good reason... the iPod will not last for much longer unless they add some serious additional functionality to it.
I believe that Apple has more to gain from the "iTV" model plan than going cellular.
Everyone has a TV. Everyone NEEDS a TV. Everyone LOVES their TV. Not everyone needs a cellphone. Not everyone LOVES a cellphone.
Cellphones have become a burden on society. Why do we need to be intouch every second of the day? We don't. Cellphones are the only form of technology out there that actually causes grief for other individuals. Think about it, how many times has the movie you are watching, the dinner you are trying to enjoy or the church mass you are trying to worship at been interrupted by the "lovely" little blaring chime of a cellphone? Or even better yet, that person picking up the call and talking on it as if the person on the other end of the line is more deaf than Helen Keller. How many times has someone cut you off in traffic or almost hit you, only to get a look at them to see that they are gabbing away on their phone, oblivious of the fact they almost killed you?
My family has a TracFone. ONE TracFone. It is to be used when we are out traveling or when someone is out shopping and might need to call back home for something. No conversations are held on it, that's why a have a Verizon bill each month for my home lines. Besides, why would anyone think I would want to hear their conversation with someone about how "Brad is such a dick because he hasn't called me in 3 days. Do you think I shouldn't have slept with him on our first date?"??? ***Real conversation I had the "privilege" of "over hearing" right behind me in my ear one day standing in line at the mall.***
Where are the GOOD rumors. Like about what new Mac Apple is coming out with? Or what new feature the iPod is going to have to blow everyone away again? How about this one, "When is Asteroid coming out???"
I'm tired of iPhone this and iPhone that. Give it a rest people. How long has this rumor been going? Maybe the better part of 18 months? Every single Mac Expo and Convention gets this crappy rumor attached to it and NOTHING HAPPENS.
Ahhhhh.... I feel much better now. Thank you.
1) Not every conversation I hold on my phone talks about a one night stand.
2) I don't scream into my cell phone.
3) I leave my phone at home when I go to church.
You can decide whether your cell phone controls you or if you control your cell phone.
And let's face it: cell phones are EVERYWHERE! People have them. And iPods are EVERYWHERE! People have them, too. And, in my opinion, music players move fast. Portable music players change majorly every 10 or so years. I think the cell phone and iPod are a natural fit. They're things everyone has and uses everywhere. And if Apple can pull off another beautiful, seamless product, then get ready to see as many iPhones as there are RAZRs and iPods combined.
And sometimes, the oldest rumors come true. The Intel Mac rumors have been floating around since 1991, and it became a detested rumor, but it finally came true...

so op your from ameria right? here were i live in the uk bisiness have generally leased lines that is dedicated symetric bandwith for them only and its garenteed. here the general costs are for dedicated 10 meg down 10 meg up about 400 a month over copper pairs, or depending where you are about 600 for 100mb down 100mb up dedicated over fiber. id figure out the difference betwwen a eqiv connection in america and your cost of your current curcuit and try budget that in too. 10 meg up 10 meg down will be plenty.
Yes, S. California.
Colo is still cheaper, at least here.
For example, Hurricane Electric offers a FULL CABINET (42U) in San Francisco with 100mbps uplink speed for $600 month.
Ubiquity offers 4U at $125/month, 1/4 cabinet at $475/month both with 100mbit/sec uplink in Los Angeles. 1/2 cabinet at $850/month (about the same as the amount quoted above for a leased line alone) but with 1000 mbit/sec uplink). I don't imagine the OP would need more than 1/4 cabinet (10U), and could probably fit this into 4U.
Note "bandwidth" quota is much lower (1mbit/sec for the 4U, 5mbit/sec for the 1/4 cabinet) than the uplink speed. You can burst to 100 or 1000, but, of course, if you sustained that rate constantly, you'd be nicked for the extra bandwidth. (It's actually rather more complicated than that.) In the case of the OP, it doesn't seem likely he'd exceed the base charge. Look up "95'th percentile billing", which is standard, at least here in the U.S.
For the OP, the existing connection seems to make sense, since he already has the leased line, presumably to support in-house user's Internet access.
However, for others that might have a server need that would not be easily met by their existing leased line, (or might violate terms of service) colo might make much more sense.
The reason it is so much cheaper is because it takes the leased line completely out of the equation. There's just an Ethernet cable to another room. The expensive "last mile" is eliminated.
I've quoted some U.S. prices, but I'd assume the economies are similar in Europe. Delivering bandwidth to your business costs a lot more than delivering bandwidth to a data center.

More info here (http://xboxyde.com/news_4145_en.html).
As I'm sure you all already know, the Xbox 360 Elite has finally been announced last night. XCN just sent us this nice Q&A session with Michael Newey, Platform Marketing Manager of Xbox Europe.
Q: Could you tell us exactly what gamers will get when they buy a Xbox 360 Elite console?
Mike Newey: Sure. Included with your Xbox 360 Elite youll get a 120 GB hard drive, a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) port built-in to the console, a high definition cable, and a premium black finish for the console, wireless controller, and Xbox LIVE headset. So not only does the Elite console have the bigger hard drive and the HDMI port, it also looks really cool.
Q: Will we be able to buy the new Elite accessories separately?
Mike Newey: Absolutely. Offering Xbox 360 owners the choice to upgrade and customise their console in whichever way they want is very important to us, so we will be making all of the Elite accessories available separately. The 120 GB hard drive, the black Wireless Controller, the black Headset and the Xbox 360 HDMI cable will all be available for sale separately in the US from April 29, and well be announcing European launch dates for these accessories as soon as we can.
In addition, we will also be releasing black versions of the Xbox 360 Play & Charge Kit and the Rechargeable Battery so you can ensure all your accessories match! Again, well bring you more details about when these accessories will launch in Europe soon.
Q. When will the Elite console be available?
Mike Newey: The Elite Xbox 360 will be available in the US from April 29. We have not announced release dates for the Elite console in Europe yet, but rest assured that as soon as we can let you know we will.

Because it's not simple. Don't pretend every woman who wears this crap does so voluntarily.
Yes, and that's why I think this is, on balance, a good law.
Don't pretend that every woman does so involuntarily.
How do you reconcile you claim of valuing personal freedom while at the same time supporting a law that punishes people simply over what they wear and no other statutory transgression?
As you said in a previous post, you wanted to drag them into the modern age. Who are you or anybody else to judge who is "modern" and who is not? The standard for criminal punishment should be conformity to the law and not conformity to the current fashion.

Another report proves that you can often tell where a person is from even further away just by looking at them!
Seriously, if you're within 60 feet of someone don't you *already* know where they are? There's all kinds of ways to be 'seen' or 'tracked' -- how big a deal is this? If we're worried about someone setting up detectors every 50 feet don't we have bigger things to worry about? All these years they could have been setting up cameras or microphones or... ...maybe they already have!

Glad to read I'm not the only one drawn to the 11" MBA. Still I can't make a final decision.
I can afford both for my business but I'm trying to use less computers not more. That's why I originally chose the 13", so it could be my one 'main machine'.
As sensible as that is I still want the 11" for a main machine. The ease of carrying it everywhere, fun to use aspect just might outweigh the practicality of the larger screen, added power, SD card slot.
I'm still undecided.
