My interest in the 11" stems from fond memories of my two favorite computers that I've owned: 12" PowerBook, and a Sony Vaio P. Wonderful little machines that I wouldn't hesitate to take anywhere (especially the Vaio P, of course). They were each my only machine at the respective time. It's so liberating to be able to whip out a little notebook for a moment, with little drama.
The 13" MBA and the MB/MBP aren't nearly as compatible with my usage style.

What is iLife 07 gonna do that you can't get in 06.
I was really hoping for more themes in iMovie. I have a project due next week and I was really counting on having new themes available to use. It is amazing that there still aren't any holiday themes available from Apple.
I'm also looking for better Podcasting support in GarageBand and iMovie (for video podcasts). iPhoto works very well for me--I have over 10,000 photos over 6 years of my son's life in there. iWeb needs improvements too.

I'd like to see a lot more weight put into iPhoto.
With the steep price declines in DSLRs, proliferation of smart phones with better cameras, etc. people are taking more photos than ever before. The result is that the photo management and editing tools that only pros used to need are needed and by more and more hobbyists and casual photographers. If they could pull in some tools from Aperture and more robust photoshop-like tools (layers, dodge and burn, spot healing brush, etc.?) it would make a lot of people happy.
As for the current feature set, it would be nice to see more powerful facial recognition (profiles, better job with babies and children).
I'd also like to see some tighter integration with Mail since family email photos all the time. Rather than just be able to right click and add the shot to iPhoto, how about the ability to create an event, label faces all in Mail and then add to iPhoto.
One of my biggest gripes though iPhoto's lack of integration with AppleTV. If I take movies on my camera or even my iPhone, it syncs to iPhoto but only the photos will sync with AppleTV. The only way to watch these movies is to render them in iMovie, Handbrake or another similar program and then add them to iTunes. What a pain!!!

To be honest I think this is a really clever idea by the blender company.
Instead of wasting millions of dollars on a Superbowl ad, which hardly adds any value, it spends 500 dollars + production costs resulting in lots of views and word of mouth marketing. I read somewhere that this campaign turned out to be hugely successful for Blendtec.
To all people who complain - you think it would be better for this company to spend heaps of money on perfecting a 30-second commercial or sponsoring some sport event? Speaking of waste...

I disagree. I like how its seperate. What could you possibly need to sync between Mail and iCal anyways..... Event invties... ohh wait that works. I believe its better to have 3 seperate programs instead of entourage... that way you can be more efficient with your use. Like for instance, when I use my laptop in class I close Mail... cause I don't have Internet, but I still need iCal. So its perfect. I mean the only downside is that you have to click to open two apps. I don't see anything else. WHat can you integrate between the two other than contacts which is its own program.

I would say the fact that no-one will be buying an iMac expecting to extensively use high-bandwidth peripherals is the more important reason why it's moot. Similarly with only using 8 PCIe lanes - it's not like the machine is going to be used for much where the GPU is bandwidth constrained.
If the ports weren't independent, it would have to say 'Two 10-Gbps data channels between them' or 'Two 10-Gbps data channels but under full load they're 5-Gbps'
That TB has "two 10Gb channels per port" is simply a part of the spec - *all* TB ports have two 10Gb channels.
It says nothing about the controller or bus those ports are sitting on. You could put a TB controller on a 32-bit PCI card and it would still have "two 10Gb channels per port" (well, strictly speaking it's unclear whether you can put a TB port on a regular expansion card, but hopefully you get the idea).
TBH the 27" IMac is sounding very tempting with the double TB and SB

I remember seeing this on the Wii and being really amazed, I think something like this would be really slick with stereoscopic 3D on top of the head tracking.
I wonder if by using the gyros also they could allow the screen to tilt farther, although I suppose if you tipped it farther and moved your head you would lose the effect.

Students who buy Macs will buy them at campus stores because it is the convenient place to get the student discount.
While that may be true, we're comparing apples to apples when it comes to year-over-year sales. This is the trend at the same place:
2003: 15% mac sales
2004: 25%
2005: 38%
2006: 45%
It's possible there are outside factors regarding PC sales that may have changed over the 4 years, but it's not mentioned.

As a parent of a college freshman, after having dealt with Windows computers for many years, I can't imagine sending the kid off to school with a Windows machine. So far, not one problem with his macbook, not one virus, not one problem with spyware. Not one problem with theft! ( I locked it to his desk and won't tell him the combination....) ( he did come home the other day asking where my skill saw was, however,.... Hmmmmmm.....)

Yep! I think Apple nailed itself on this one, it they arent gonna come out with iPhone 4 this summer, this will be a way to increase sales until then. Besides, its like the Wii getting a new color and everybody goes crazy for it bcus its the first time they've done it.

From my understanding FCP will still transcode your footy from AVCHD to ProRes (because by miles thats still the best codec to edit + add effects to) but it does it in the background along with all the faces/shot/stabilisation analysis. While a clip is being imported your allowed to work on the AVCHD file but it is automatically seamlessly swapped with the ProRes file when its ready. Which, if im right, is absolutely epic :)
Adds questions about where files are stored tho...
I think it'd be more epic to do an offline in avchd, making an IMG backup of the disk which stored the content. You can make an avchd edit and then when you have a picture lock, go back to the original, transcode automatically the footage you need, do your color correction and effects with the better files and export a pro res file or whatever you need. Though disk space is cheap, that would be a workflow I'd love to have since I'm handed hundreds of gigs of footage for a short video, easily filling up a multi-terabyte computer and externals quite quickly.

I would assume it would be released with Leopard, arent may of its features going to be leopard-technology-dependent? (Core animation, better integration with Time Machine, iChat, etc)

Both of my cuttings are on my inner biceps (sp?) - on the left is a "Chi" (18th letter of Hebrew alphabet - symbolizes life) which I got when I was having some problems with, well, living. On the right is a triple moon goddess symbol, which seemed appropriate given my witchcraft. Actually, this one is a bit more aesthetic to me as well - I got it because I like it and like it because it is what it is.

I had no idea how cricket was played until this past week while in India. It seems that cricket is quite popular there, and was one of the few sports available in English on the tele, so I watched it. After a little while I was able to figure out the basics - overs, wickets, bowlers, etc. - as wells as how the scoring works.
What I find amazing is how long the matches (tests?) last. There was a news story about a growing trend - "3 hour cricket". Sounds good to me!
Turns out a guy I work with used to play cricket (he's from Jamaica) so he was giving me some more information about the game. It's pretty cool.

Hey guys, although I've been a daily reader of Macrumors (and its forums) for about 3 years now I've never actually posted anything before (mostly because my views and thoughts are usually already expressed by members).
Anyway, I thought I'd actually add my 2 cents to this thread.
Although I would love to see Leopard released in MWSF I highly doubt it. What you have to remember is that Apple has been getting a lot of press coverage this year from the media. More and more reporters are coming to Apple's Media Events so they don't need to release Leopard in MWSF to steal the thunder from Vista's release. All they need to do is give a spectacular demo of OS 10.5 with all the "secret features" either at MWSF or shortly afterwards at a Special Media Event. If these "secret features" are in any way revolutionary (or really really cool) the media will eat it up and will focus a lot of their Tech News on Leopard in relation to Vista (instead of Vista vs. Tiger like they did this year). Vista will look like its 4 years behind Mac OS just from a FULL demo of Leopard even if they don't officially release it till April. Apple can do the "secret features" demo, make all the press fall in love with Leopard and then spend the next 2 months putting the final touches on everything while the media talks about how superior Leopard will be to Vista. And on top of that they will be talking about the newly released iTV, iPhone, etc... so Apple will be getting a LOT of press coverage in the beginning of 2007.
