10.4.0 was terrible. Tiger, in general, has been one big yawn.
I couldn't disagree with you more.
10.1.0 was terrible. And several things about Tiger have been welcome additions, I particularly enjoy Dashboard (although I know some people hate it, and I know Yahoo Widget Engine is an option as well, but not as good/seamless), and especially Automator. Automator has been absolutely wonderful.
Not to mention that my older computer actually saw a noticable speed increase with Tiger vs. 10.3. Sure, it wasn't as revolutionary as OS X when it first came out, but to me it was the best 10.x release thus far.
Also, I didn't run into any bugs at 10.4.0 other than the left/right audio balance bug (which I believe stuck around til 10.4.3).

One more time: yes, I think the guy should have stopped, but I think she bears as much blame as she does. He tried to diffuse a hostile situation by leaving; her actions indicated that she insisted it continue.
Hostile situations where the person on the hood of a car is the aggressor might happen in action movies, but this incident seems like the result of some domestic dispute. Even if she might be crazy, I'm not sure you can argue this guy is in any danger inside the minivan and is actually trying to get away.
There is no other reason for him to drive a car through another person. This is murder.
On a side note, when I read the article I think of this:

I think it would be hard for me to hold on with a wiper..

Perhaps, but do you think it'll stay this way? Electricity can be generated cleanly. I don't see why we need to put a stopper on progress elsewhere just because we have more work to do in how we generate electricity.
Despite "high hopes" for going green, the current reality of this is that about 45% of a U.S. Volt owners will be using a coal-powered car.
Do you folks actually believe that U.S. "coal barons" are willing to roll over and die? Anyone who believe that is naive. The coal industry is willing to spend millions or perhaps billions to defeat any bill that they see as being "anti-coal", which includes not only cap and trade but any environmental related bill that tightens regulations on mining or burning coal.
It's really very simple -- if the country's coal barons have their way, the use coal-generated power will increase, not decrease, in coming years. In most coal-producing states, it's extremely easy to whip-up support for coal -- they simply raise the "they want to take your jobs" issue.
Unfortunately, I live in the heart of Appalachia (http://blog.mywonderfulworld.org/2010/11/jessie-hodal---mountaintop-coal-mining-appalachia.html), where there are currently more signs and bumper stickers of the "Friends of Coal" kind than there are of the "Honk if you love Jesus" variety. This pro-coal group produces pro-coal literature (http://climateprogress.org/2009/11/07/let’s-learn-about-coal-industry-front-group-distributes-coloring-book-on-the-advantages-of-coal/) currently being used in the local K12 school system that "teaches" kids that coal is clean and cheap, and is an abundant energy source that shouldn't be abandoned.

I really hate my state's stupid beer laws. The cap on beer is 5%, which cuts out a lot of great beers. Thankfully, I have friends and relatives in other states where I can get said beers. :)
Horrible! I feel for you man. Why such a silly limit?

Definitely sounds like some cool things were added but I hope all the 'helpful' features can be toggled on/off. For example, the video in your link thedarkhorse worries me if that feature can't be turned off. Audio track assignments are a very common thing (mic on A1, nat sound A2, SFX on A3 & A4, music on A5 & A6, etc.,) so I don't want FCP to bump track's up to 'fill in the gap'. Not only does that screw up my organization but it also makes the job harder for my audio mixer when I send him a timeline that's all jumbled up. The same goes for video track assignments. We keep things layered on specific tracks so they are easy to find. The use of white space keeps the timeline from turning into a cluttered mess.

Stereo speakers. Most of use can tell if a sound is in front of us or behind or above or below and we only have two ears. You can make 3D recording with ony two channles but the playback geometry has to be near perfect. Synthetic sound cues are not recordings and it need not be perfect to work. All it would have to convey is any one of six basic directions and the users will all be trained to listen for it carfully and wiling to set up the speakers in exact locations. It might be helpfull to someone who is blind. I know some one who is and he can sometimes tell who enters a room and from where before the person speaks. If this is the target user then it need not be perfect or even natural sounding
Technically you need 3 speakers to produce 3d sound. Manufacures claim they can do it with 2 but they don't. You need a center channel to balance the sides.

Interesting.

what would be the big differences with the current iphone?
based on the rumors i saw, the updated version will only show incremental borderline irrelevant improvements?
am I missing something?

TUAW posts some purported screenshots (http://www.tuaw.com/2006/10/19/screenshots-from-the-latest-leopard-build/) of the latest Mac OS X Leopard build, including some features (anti-phishing technology in Safari, parental controls, iCal UI, etc) that was described in the latest seed notes (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061012222519.shtml).
At this point, MacRumors can't independently vouch for the authenticity of the photos, but there is nothing yet to indicate the screenshots are fake.

This is a huge nothing issue and the press is making a big deal about it because they are all libs and they hate corporations. They will do anything to make them look evil and out to get everyone. They also like to down success in any way possible.
I have 2 iPhones, 2 iPods, 1 iPad and 2 MacBook Pros they can track until their hearts content if they want. I'd also like to track them myself so I'll keep those services turned on!
I'd like to note that i know that Apple does not gather the tracking information. I am just saying if they wanted to they can, I don't care.

They didn't do the midseason memory bump for the 3Gs either, but they did do the Verizon iPhone so this could happen just to keep their AT&T customers around for more. I myself have been looking at android now more that I have an iPad to give me my apps for iOS... I could live without an iPhone now.
um, yeah, 'cause the 3gs was the midseason bump, if you will...

That would be cool. What would make it cooler is intead of having individual keys, have it be one giant touchscreen like a Ninitendo DS or (even better) like they have on Star Trek.
I don't think that could ever happen, not with today's technology.
To find out why, go to your microwave and see how quickly you can "type" into its keypad. Or, next time you renew your vehicle license plate registration, see how well you can type your address on the kiosk touch screen (assuming a kiosk like ours in Ontario).
