I'm hoping that the special event will announce iLife and iWork '07, plus Leopard. It might be just an announcement, with the actual shipping date sometime mid-February, but it would help steal the thunder from Vista.

I would, but I have to go collect my check since each Jew gets a cut of the profits for the media and Hollywood that we own. You'd think that since we own the banks too they could just direct deposit it, but we're a bit old fashioned ;)
:D:D:D:D On a side note, nice to see that good old fashioned anti-semitism is alive and well. This isn't the usual cheap/big nose anti-semitism, this is old fashioned Roman style religious hatred.

Billions?
You know, if you believe that people are out to get you long enough, eventually they will be.
Perhaps they find this position to be useful, somehow?
As for One of One Billion (me), I care not a whit who gets in my car.

So I just read up a little on what happened at the Natal/Kinect press conference.
Basically:
- They had everyone put on white plastic ponchos. (Kool-aid, anyone?)
- They had a flying couch and a fake elephant.
- They showed some horrible casual games that had people jumping around their living rooms like spastic idiots.
- They assume that no one has coffee tables.
- They're releasing EyePet and Wii Sports.
- They invented Skype.
Wow, quite an event. I imagine this one will be talked about for quite awhile. :D
Now don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with Microsoft/Xbox in general. But this was just beyond ridiculous. Then again, I'm not really expecting Sony to do much better with "Move". A little, hopefully, but not much. :)

Apple better get on the stick and start doing things right... otherwise, they'll be at 10% in no time! :p
It will be interesting to see what 2011 brings with all the new OS (Lion and iOS) changes and the potential of the iPhone5 just around the corner.

. Why does it have to be exclusively streaming? Why couldn't apple allow you to download the itunes you want onto your computer, but at the SAME TIME, allow you stream it if you wanted?
Because then he couldn't whine about how evil apple is.
The comments here are so hilarious. There is a rumor about a product that has never been announced. People start imagining all sorts of restrictions on this unannounced rumored product. They then complain about hoe apple is so evil to be imposing these restrictions, which they imagined, on an unannounced, unreleased rumored product.

Guess I won't be telling tonight....
But anyways what I did have,
EVGA X58 SLI LE
6gb(3x 2gb) Corsair XMS3
500gb(was in the process of cloning to a 75gb WD Raptor)
2x GTX 460 768mb (OC shader)
Windows 7
hmm, i think i have that same motherboard.
If I was folding (don't see the point. I tried it for a few days and didn't see the point.), I'd be using this computer I built back in Jan '10.
Antec 900 two
4GB 1333 ddr3 RAM
Gigabyte P55A - UD3
GTX 260 892MB
1TB HDD
Been able to hit 3.8Ghz without changing the voltage very much. Maybe 1.25v. Didn't see the need to overclock just to see Facebook. Stock speeds are plenty fast for me now. Might bring it up gradually.
I hardly use that computer though, after I got my MBP :(
well the point of folding is to help scientists research cures for diseases, like cancer. please tell me why you think there's no point in that?

Check out the inventory tracker in MR iPad forum for Best Buy, Target, etc.
I placed my order online at the Apple Store and have been waiting patiently for a April 20 delivery. Yesterday I checked the inventory tracker and it turned out my local Best Buy had stock on the 16GB WiFi black, just as I ordered it from Apple. Literally 15 minutes later I was up and running with my new gear & cancelled my Apple store order. No waiting in line or wasting any more time with the whole process. Why wait if you can grab it locally?
I'll have to check this out... I can't find one here locally anywhere and the people at the counters have no clue when stock is coming again. Best I got was check back or take a look at the shinny new Xooms in stock! :p

Even worse in a communist country where the "employer" and the government might be one and the same.
Clearly, you never served in our military. We have our own code of justice, but without even going to that extreme, if you think that civilians aren't jailed or worse in the United States and even outside our borders because of our corporate collusion, you're living in dreamland. We've got entire societies displaced by our corporate interests, dissenters jailed and their democratically elected leaders shot, and that's just what's on the record. Plenty of blood on everybody's hands.
It's what everybody gets when even a few people aren't self sufficient and dependent on money.

iCal has been a disaster for 4 OS X releases now. It is, without a doubt, Apple's worse application. It's missing functionality, basic functionality, that has been in every calendaring program since 1992.
iCal is a sad example of Apple going to far to the extreme of minimization.
All I really wanted in the last 2 OS updates was a decent iCal. It's the only thing on the Mac that continually hurts my productivity.
I've learned that iCal is just the price of being a Mac guy, and I don't hope for greatness. Heck, I don't even hope for mediocrity. iCal is always going to be slow, inconsistent UI and barely usable.
I'm at peace with that fact now.
I can't say I agree. Mabe it's because I haven't gone and tried other calendering programs, but I use iCal every day and it's a pleasure to use. It syncs events and to-dos with widgets on dashboard, I'm subscribed to some online calenders to keep track of lost and 24, amung other things, and it's all colorful and organized and looks great. Sure, theres definitely potential for upgrades, but I think it's great as is.

Nice. I probably would have bought an 8GB kit about 5-6 months ago when I added more RAM to my machine had I known about this, but I find the 6GB in it instead to be enough for my needs. That, plus the 120GB SSD I put in it about 3 months ago and it flies. Fast enough that I'm not looking to replace it any time soon (though the 11" MBA sure looks slick).

Steve never said the shuffle was coming with the new earbuds...however he did make it clear that they were coming with the other new iPods:(
I am wondering the same thing...guess we will have to wait and find out.
There hasn't been an apple headphone/earbud I've liked yet. As soon as I buy new iPods, I instantly ditch the earbuds they ship with the product (or give them away) and get something better.

I'd call it lazy instead of easier. They could easily detect the current version installed and download the approriate patch, or fall back to the whole OS if it's not the most recent update.
yeah man. apple has the laziest programmers in the industry. you nailed it.

If you want to opt out and not provide this information, you can get the OS X version of dyndns.org to manage a domain name that handles dynamic IP address changes.
Or use no-ip.com. Their free service lets you pick a subdomain for yourself, and they have both a manual app for updating your IP, and a background process that will keep the IP updated automatically. (However, their software for Mac is fairly old--it no longer has the option to launch the process at boot. So I add their manual-update app to my login items, just as a reminder, and then I go into its prefs, where I can click to start the "daemon," and then quit the app.)
I've tested it on Leopard in the past, for hosting games. Have not tested with EyeTV and Snow Leopard.
No-ip does still require you to sign up, though. If EyeTV's system works for hosting games too, I might just switch to that! I always have EyeTV running so there would be no need for a background process.

TrustedReviews.com claims (http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?art=3567) that an "extremely well informed exec" at a firm that makes "made for iPod" products has indicated that the "official 6G iPod" would be announced in December 2006. While we're not so sure how much we believe a "made for iPod" company (other than Apple) would be privy to this information, the report does echo a recent Engadget post (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061010172228.shtml) quoting reliable sources saying that the "true video iPod" would be coming soon.
ThinkSecret, one of the most outspoken rumor sites on the upcoming product, has gone back (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/09/20060916223336.shtml) and forth (http://notes.thinksecret.com/secretnotes/0609secretnote2.shtml) on the subject of when the new iPod would be introduced, most recently settling on an early 2007 timeframe.
A recap of some recent rumors on the "true" Video iPod:
- nVidia to produce the multimedia chip? (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/07/20060718175754.shtml)
- eBook reader capability? (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/07/20060722213042.shtml)
- Wireless capability? (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/10/20061010172228.shtml)
