Assuming they can get the supply chain worked out it would really be ideal for them to come out with the iPhone 5 by the end of June. They are beginning to see some of their market share shrink with some of the new Android phones and giving them another 6 months of new and better will not make shareholders happy.

However, the USA has one gigantic advantage that other countries don't have: an unprecedented ground transportation infrastructure to move goods around on both rail and paved roads.
This is a problem that in many ways still plague India and China--they don't have enough ground transportation infrastructure to handle large-scale economic growth, especially factories well inland unless they're right next to a major rail line. That's why in China, most of their big factories are either close to the coastline (Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Dalian) or at major crossroads of rail lines (Wuhan and Chengdu).

Yep, it was definitely great to meet up with the MR folks and put some faces and names to the handles and avatars.
(Now, why do I look so creepy in the photo?)
I'll try to make it over tomorrow to see some of the stuff I missed today (mostly North Hall) and have another chat, but I can't guarantee it. I'll have to see how my day goes.

I agree with what the commentators are saying, put a bullet in the game. England has won.

If Apple thought this product was actually a big leap, they wouldn't have to announce it in front of a group of fans. I would have like to see them demo the software at the editors guild or have some editors who have used it.
Im sure it will be a great consumer product, but so far there is nothing to say that it is revolutionary or that it's even a good choice for content creation.

Billions?
You know, if you believe that people are out to get you long enough, eventually they will be.
Perhaps they find this position to be useful, somehow?
As for One of One Billion (me), I care not a whit who gets in my car.

certainly a placeholder text.
reading the gibberish translation, I first thought it was simply a bad machine translation. the german original as seen on amazon is not much better though.

I am very unimpressed. No Wifi, no 65nm process, no internal power supply, it will still be loud as heck. And if I want it, I am forced to get black, i don't want black.
Someone said why does it matter if their are 3 SKUS. Try this. Look at the Mac Mini, 2 models. One with a superdrive, one without. But what if you want the cheaper one with a superdrive. Whoops guess you are out of luck.
It forces you to buy the higher model. Only the Elite has the HDMI and the 120GB. Of course you could add the 120GB for the rip me off price of $180.
Let's compare that to the Mac Pro. One SKU customizable. No one is left out, you can choose what you want and you are limited to getting only certain things on another SKU. Most, including myself, prefer that model. What if Apple put Santa Rosa in the top end MB and left it out of the bottom? Not much of a choice, huh?
People like to think giving you a new SKU is adding to your choice. That isn't the case as you can see.
Up until now, I never thought about a PS3. That has changed. Yeah you don't need HD-DVD but they put it out so you would buy it. And when you look at the pricing, the 360 is cheaper but you are getting a lot less. For $120 more than the 360 Elite, I get Blu-ray, media readers, wifi. I can even upgrade the drive to 160GB for only $110.
The PS3 is clearly the better system. If was going to spend retail price on a console it would be the PS3. Hands down.
Good comparison. :) It's sad that if you get a 160 GB HD, IT'D STILL BE CHEAPER THAN THE ELITE 360!

This phone will live up to Apples claim of Magical and Revolutionary.
On the Revolutionary Front, is an Awesome Orange Glow from it's Radioactivity.
No backlight needed, therefore longer battery life will prevail. Everything we've wanted and more.
Leave it to the amazing engineers to turn something negative into a positive.
Very impressive.

In Stockholm and Frankfurt, I hardly see any iPhones. Also, I hardly see any iPads. I do however see a ton of MacBookPros but almost no MacBookAirs.
I find both places very style-centric (Stockholm especially), but also somewhat frugal. I don't think that iPhone will reach as large of a market share in Europe due to the high upfront cost of an iPhone (659€/799€ for 16GB/32GB).
Actually, it's running joke that you can identify an American by iPhone/iPad (aside from the loud inane conversation).

I concurr. Almost every concert I go to now, I see a MacBook on stage. I see mac notebooks everywhere. One thing I hate is when i see people dissuading potential buyers away from macintoshes, simply because Windows is the more common operating system, when most of the time, these are new computer buyers and wouldn't be able to use Wwindows in the first place.
Well it is an issue of Risk Manangement. Whie true most people will be better off with a Mac. If they don't know anything better, the PC seems like the safest choice, Just because the numbers show more PC are out there and if you go to CompUSA you get 6-7 iles of Windows Programs and a little corner with Mac Products (often at a higher price too  ). If they didn't like their Mac they are stuck with it. At least with the PC if it sucks you can use the programs you have on the Newer System (theroretically). It is hard to explain to them that OS X and iLife is equilvalnt to about $1000 of 3rd party software that you will need to get to match the quality, (not the crap that most PC come standard with) espectailly because all the feature seems to be there. iPhoto vs. Mr. Pic Foto softare, Mail vs. Outlook Express. But for someone new that is tough to explain. When they are computer savy enough they already have already invested into PC and PC Software so getting them to swich is hard too.
At least now with bootcamp you can go. Get a Mac if you really hate it after a few weeks we can put windows on it, and it will run that fine too.

Does this also apply to the late 2008/early 2009 white macbook? Or am I still limited to 4GB?
Edit: Nevermind. Reread again saw that the article stated alum Macbooks. I guess I just got a little excited there. At first glance, thought the artice was talking about all Macbooks in general...

Is $299 the upgrade price or the only price?
Since it is sold through the AppStore it has to be for the full version since you can't sell 'upgrades' in the AppStore.

this will be the new and improved "sync" ... btw if this isn't what they are going to do i still recommend taking a look at mac os x's mobile user configurations as it really is brilliant (as it also has the side effect of auto-backing up your laptop to a different machine))
Whats this, i have never heard of this, is it part of the OS, can someone help me out, either explain how to access this or where tor ead up on it.
The thing that gets me  is the 3d capabilities. A 3d dock? A 3d expose? A 3d filesystem viewer? or just a simple 3d affect used when, i dunno turning on?
eww Flip 3d (http://www.winsupersite.com/images/reviews/vista-5219-review-flip3d.jpg) That image just goes to show what is wrong with the way Expose is implimented in Vista, what is that on the last window, have no idea. Expose is best in 2D no need for 3D.
I hope with the release of Leopard OS X doesn't require a reboot for updates or any sort. I'd also like to save my sessions upon shutting down. All the same windows open and in the same place as I left it. Another one would be a more GUI options for the firewall and perhaps an add-on for snort. I know third party tools exist, but I'd like it to be built into the OS. Widgets that can become part of the the desktop background, but not replace it. I'm sure I could make a huge list of improvements, but these are a few that I'd really like to see done.
I like these ideas, i already have developer mode switched on so i can have the widgets on the desktop, but i would prefer them to be a part of the background like you said. Really cool idea.

I think most consumers do not know carbon because they never had something like a racing bicycle made of it.
Many people will think apple has made the product worse or is just trying to safe costs when they see a carbon MacBook for the first time because they think it is "plastic" and not something high tech.
Christian
I couldn't disagree more. Apple is a master of marketing, its what makes them so successful. They could sell a computer made out of glass if they wanted to and I'm sure the consumers would just gobble it up.
And besides, apples target market is, lets be honest, the richer more educated portion of the world. Point being, if you can afford to lay down $1,000+ for a computer, I'll gamble that you've at least heard of Carbon Fiber.
