It looks like a substantial application development environment and the subscription seems reasonably-priced at $99.
How many Java developers on Mac OS X will bite? I'm interested...I just wish that Sun and IBM had talked first, developed a joint technology for development and allowed different GUI and features to implement on top of the same insides and plug-ins.

Each time I've ordered, I was required to demonstrate my educational status. I had to fax a copy of my student ID. The info is on their site.

Every time I try to download something (i.e. Silverlight), when I double click the content my mac wants to try to open it through Microsoft Powerpoint. Is there a default setting that I need to change? I have tried opening it through different applications, but am a newb when it comes to Macs. Anything would be helpful, thanks.

Following on from my original post, after getting some interest in my PowerMac i have put my Cinema Display up to end after the Power Mac.
20" Apple Cinema Display @ 399
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8732758134
No Obvious Dead Pixels.. short of getting a magnifiying glass and looking at each one i cant see anything. :)
The PowerMac G5 is still for sale @ 1650

If someone is interested in both then we might be able to work something out :) My feedback rating on eBay is 125! All Positive since Feb 2002. I have sold lots of PC kit on eBay and also some Mac stuff :( and ive not had any complaints at all. When its stated its in Mint Condition, it meants Mint. :)

From what I understand, you can make your own phone, so long as you don't sell it. I mean, if you have the means to make a mean phone (wow, haha), then I believe you can do it.

Been waiting in Chicago (not some small town, but Chicago for christ's sake) for way too long, we had the neighborhood wired for U-Verse for close to a year and still nothing. Seems for whatever corrupt reason AT&T doesn't want to compete and leave only Comcast (who I despise) as the only provider in my neighborhood. Hey Verizon, if want to make some more money just move into the Chicago area, then you can offer a package deal when you get the iPhone.
+1 in ny
also i dont know if i would swap. optimum has a huge wifi network. it also has fast internet. the phone features are nice to have for free and the tv is ok.

I know CD has its flaws but what puts GTA on a higher level?
The fact that CD is a blatant copy of GTA.........

Because of the success of the Grand Theft Auto series, notably Grand Theft Auto III and subsequent games, several other developers have attempted to replicate GTA's driving/shooting formula and open-ended sandbox play. Notable games that are often seen as doing so include:

I currently have an iPod touch (MB model) running 4.0 firmware, jailbroken using JailbreakMe.com by Comex. I want to try jailbreaking 4.1 using greenp0ison so I can get game center (I am aware of the ways to get gamecenter on 4.0, and i can't stand the outcome). So if I were to do so, and copy my "/" folder on my iPod to my computer before the re-jailbreak, would I be able to revert back to exactly as it is now if i dont like the greenp0ison jailbreak? I am not sure, but I think restoring from itunes removes all jailbroken apps, including cydia. Tell me if i'm wrong there, as i think i might be.

Thanks for the compliment 100Teraflops. The mini shown there is an Ork scrap prospector, circa late 1990's. I really like the pewter Ork models from that era
Most of the minis I work with are Games Workshop products. Their Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 games definitely inspired much of the Warcraft/Starcraft concept art. So much that there are supposedly lawyers involved. The story goes that Blizzard wanted to make the Warhammer strategy games, but GW had other developers lined up to make them. So Blizzard sort of tweaked things enough to call it their own game. There are still tongue in cheek references to the Warhammer universe in WoW and other titles :D
@ Full of Win, I didn't know a reverser ring was an option. I'll definitely look into that!
@ gnd, Just saw your reply. Might not be able to get away with it after all :p

I think it should be kept. It gives a good indicator of the member's status. In fact, I think it should be expanded.
Now, this may seem a bit extreme...however, what about this? When a member is in "Time-Out," there is also a link to the offending post(s) by that member. That way, we can not only see that they are in "time-out" but also what they posted to get themselves into that status.
Here's how it would work: The offending posts are deleted from the thread in question, as per normal policy. A moderator moves those offending post(s) to a hidden section of MacRumors, visible only to moderators. Let's call it the, "Evidence" section. When the member is in "time-out," there is an active link to those specific posts stored in the Evidence section. Anyone on MacRumors can click on the link to see those posts (only those specific posts, nothing else).
When the member did his time and returns to active status in the MacRumors community, the "time-out" designator is removed (along with the link to the offending posts). At this point, there is no record for the general community to see. This member looks like any other member on MacRumors. If this member does something, again, to get himself into a "time-out" status, this process repeats. However, the link to the offending posts would only be to his/her current infraction(s)...not the previous ones.
The Evidence section could be maintained as a record of every post that had to be deleted by moderators. That way, moderators can easily see all of the previous infractions that any given member had. Kind of like in real life where the police maintain a criminal history report on people.

I'm trying to narrow down my choices of what to search for on Ebay to replace a couple of my ancient Macs.
I bought a Mac Plus in 89 and then a Performa 200 in 92 basically for one purpose, which was to run a program I have that controls automation on a studio recording console made back in those times. I still have the program (800kb floppy and a bunch of safety copies) and the console, although the Macs died a few years ago. I was running OS6 or 7 on those old Macs.
Anyway.. I'm going to return to using the console and I really don't want to buy an eBay Mac Plus, or Performa, but would rather get something from that era that used a larger display compared to the teeny 9" b&w on the Plus/Performa.
The program manual from my last 1994 upgrade of the software (before the software maker discontinued it) shows compatible Macs being Mac Plus..se..se30..II, IIcx, IIci, IIsi, LC, Classic, or Classic II. Performa was never on the list but worked fine as I think those were bascially Classics anyway. The software does not show an OS preference. What I'm sort of picking up from this list is that the software was basically designed for the 68030 based Macs.
Anyone have a clue of what may happen if I try to run this on later 68040 or Powerpc based Macs that appeared later in time?
This may be too vague of a question since you all don't know this software that I have. I figured I'd ask here before biting the bullet to just buy random old Macs to test.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop that I'm very happy with. They mouse and keyboard share the same receiver, so that still leaves one USB slot for you. The batteries last a long time, and the two-button/wheeled mouse seems to be what you're looking for.
I got my complete set before Christmas for $28 after rebate - I think they were moving the set up another version.
Found this on google, so these might still be around ..

Calm down guys. Yebot, thanks for making this thread, and for pointing out something that Arn agrees should be done. That's an *extremely* rare honour. You should feel proud of that. You are literally one in several million, and I mean that seriously.
Your old post that got deleted didn't give any useful detail, and your post in this thread does. Look at all the thanks you're getting from other members.

I don't have a problem with that, as long as it's stated somewhere, like you say. FAQ seems the right place.

Crackdown is too "bouncy," if that makes sense. I don't like the over the top jumping and climbing. GTA is more "real."
You drive around running people over. Constantly get killed and wakeup outside of an hospital feeling fine ? mmmm ok. Remind me not to visit your 'reality' ;) :D j/k
